A New Dai Dawns

    The Australian light truck market

  has ticked along comparatively

easily, through the past 20 years,

 with Japanese truck makers Fuso,

Hino, Isuzu and UD all participating

in the availability of strong and

 sturdy forward control vehicles.

Hino has so far been the only

 manufacturer to add a bonneted

truck to its portfolio, but, being only

 available on the North American

market, it hasn’t been an issue for

the competition in our own domestic

 arena.

But, as the world’s car makers

  have already experienced, the

burgeoning Korean market is rapidly changing the face of motoring competition as we know it. And while so far the activity has been confined to passenger car production, manufacturers such as Hyundai have now turned their export focus on the inclusion of light commercial vehicles. And they are coming to a retail outlet near you.

Hyundai is already the fastest growing automotive brand in the world. Now ranked in sixth position, the conglomerate produced 3.2 million units in 2009, an amazing feat considering that as recently as 1998 it was only ranked in 16th position.
