Rural Retreat

Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show.

It’s one of the largest trucking

events in Victoria and it’s free.

That’s just part of the attraction of

  the annual Alexandra Truck Ute

and Road Show that this year drew

a record crowd of 15,000 visitors to

the centre of town, all intent on

seeing the best trucks in the State.

  For the local communities of

  Alexandra, Healesville, Marysville

and other small towns ravaged by

the bush fires of February 2009,

the event offered the chance to

  show how the rural communities

are bouncing back from the tragic cost in human life as well as the loss of homes and businesses.

Yes, the area is full of reminders of the horrific fires and the display of Paterson’s Kenworth T904 burnt to the ground with twisted and deformed chassis rails and melted fuel tanks showed graphic detail of just what some of the community will remember for  the rest of their lives.

But this was a time to celebrate and with top-rated country music bands for entertainment the event attracted a record crowd, all of whom came to see the trucks and to talk trucks with anyone that cared to listen.
