The Three Diamond's Diesel
Considering that Mitsubishi has always been able to provide excellent diesel engines in its 4WD products, such as the Pajero, it’s come as a bit of a surprise to realise that up until now it has never offered a diesel alternative for its passenger car range. That omission has now been addressed with the launch into the Australian market of the ASX. With yet another acronym for the buyer to get their head around, ASX stands for Active Smart Crossover, and with three models in its range it sits above the Lancer (with which it shares certain components) and below the Outlander, using the same GS platform as its two relations. A two day introductory drive between Brisbane and the Noosa hinterland showed that Mitsubishi has indeed produced something worth considering by the buyer, especially with the options of choosing between a 2WD and a full 4WD version.
