CURRENT ISSUE ...
Issue 7 June/July/Aug 2010

This month is a really bumper issue with the results of the ECOcar of the year awards where we compare every new product on the market and decide which, in our view, is worthy of the being singled out for recognition.

There’s a vast range from which to choose and this year it’s made even more difficult because competition has never been more fierce.  If you are interested in electric vehicles then you’ll find our drive of the Mitsubishi  iMIEV may change your thinking about using electric power in your car. It’s nippy, roomy and actually fun to drive.

Also high in the electric stakes is the Nissan Leaf and we look forward to having our first drive as soon as the manufacturer releases the product onto our market.

And did you know that Armidale is the centre of electric car engineering in Australia. All the details are in this issue.

Volkswagen comes in with all guns blazing to show off its new Polo and Golf and Ed Ordynski takes to the wheel of the new Mazda 2 as well as pilots a Mazda 6 around the Targa Tasmania course as the official course car.

We profile more different models than ever before with the BMW X1, Alfa Mito Sport, Volvo C30 Drive and XC60, the Peugeot 4007, Kia Rio and  we compare the best of the  hatch brigade comprising Holden’s Cruze, Ford’s Focus, Hyundai’s i30 and Volkswagen’s Golf. The used car market also comes under scrutiny as we check how the Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Getz stand up to the wear and tear of everyday use and we finish with the  sheer luxury and enjoyment of the Jaguar XF Diesel.

As global interest in ECOcar continues to increase you can now access each issue and download a digital version direct to your laptop, desk top or i-Pad. Just check out www.zinio.com and click on automotive to find out the details.

What a breath of fresh air. (I know there is a pun in there somewhere) I can actually buy a Motoring magazine that writes to the average motorist out there. I have for many years bought and read one of the most well known motoring magazine on the Australian market. Many years ago it wrote about cars that the average Australian could afford. These days however I am finding that I only read about one third of the publication as I am tired of reading the next instalment of the ongoing soap opera of the finer details of the performance attributes of Ford FPV, Holden HSVs etc. If not that it is a detailed test of some extremely expensive import that will probably sell a little more than a handful of cars in Australia.

So far i have read your magazine articles completely. Not just a percentage of it.

Thank you for marketing a publication that is geared to the more average of us who are probably looking for a comfortable. economical car that is large enough for our needs. You have also proven that one does not need a fuel guzzling, mobile block of flats to pull a boat or caravan. There is a 4WD on the market that uses a 2.2 litre engine with more than adequate torque for the job.

Thank you again.

I wish you every success in your new publication. I cannot wait for issue six.
