Safety Sells

The word “accident” suggests
that no-one is at fault. In the world
of the motor vehicle fatality, that is
patently not the case. Someone, or
something, is at fault and
contributed to the event. Therefore,
the descriptor of accident is no
longer applicable.
There are some drivers who are
exceptionally gifted, and there are
others who will never progress past
steering, braking and controlling a
vehicle to an established degree of
competency. Not everyone wants to
be a rally driver, and certainly not
everyone has that unique ability.
But every driver can be more aware of how an action can influence an outcome, and, in driving, that’s the single best way to reduce our road toll.
Driver awareness, not advanced driving or defensive driving, is the initial key to advancing safety levels on our roads. Knowing what you can do safely, and where your skill set ends, is crucial.
